Hotpot Queen Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 2026-04-19 Version: 1.0
Hotpot Queen (a DBA of Nifty Napkin Inc, a Washington corporation) (“Hotpot Queen,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for all visitors and applying relevant accessibility standards in our efforts to make hotpotqueen.com more accessible. Our website is hosted on Shopify and built on the Stiletto theme v5.2.2.
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience and applying relevant accessibility standards. We believe that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time fix, and we are dedicated to taking meaningful steps toward making our website usable for everyone.
2. Standards We Work Toward
Hotpot Queen works to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is widely recognized as a meaningful baseline for accessibility across the four principles: perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. We use “target,” “working toward,” and “align with” framing because our efforts are an ongoing commitment, not a fixed destination. We monitor developments in subsequent WCAG versions (including WCAG 2.2) and applicable regulatory guidance (including the U.S. Department of Justice’s March 2024 rule, 28 CFR Part 36), and will update our target standard as requirements evolve.
3. Features That Support Accessibility
We design and develop our site with accessibility in mind. Features we work to include and maintain across hotpotqueen.com include:
- Alt-text on imagery. We work to provide alt-text descriptions on product images, banners, and other informational graphics across hotpotqueen.com.
- Color contrast. We target sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds, aligned with the WCAG 2.1 AA 4.5:1 ratio for normal text.
- Keyboard navigation. We work to ensure our site is navigable using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse or touchscreen.
- Visible focus indicators. We implement visible focus indicators on interactive elements to support keyboard navigation.
- Semantic structure. We work to use semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy and page landmarks.
- ARIA labels. We apply ARIA labels and landmarks where needed to support screen-reader navigation.
-
Reduced-motion support. Our site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionbrowser setting and reduces or disables non-essential motion effects when that setting is enabled. - Form labels. We work to associate form labels with input fields to support screen-reader and assistive-technology users.
- Accessible cookie-consent notice. We work to make our cookie-consent banner accessible by keyboard and screen reader.
- Skip-to-content link. We provide a skip-to-content link at the top of each page to support keyboard users in bypassing repeated navigation.
This list is non-exhaustive.
4. Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We use a combination of automated testing tools — including browser developer tools, Lighthouse, and axe DevTools — and manual review by team members trained on accessibility-aware content practices, including writing product descriptions, applying alt-text, and adding media captions. We conduct regular site audits and address issues promptly when identified. All new features and content are reviewed against the WCAG 2.1 AA standard before launch.
5. Known Limitations
Despite our ongoing efforts, some content on hotpotqueen.com may not yet be fully accessible to all users. Specifically:
- Third-party content, including customer-uploaded reviews and user-generated social content, may not meet our internal accessibility standards.
- We are progressively auditing and updating text alternatives (including alt-text for images and captions for video) across our product catalog and marketing content.
- Experimental or limited-time features — such as the Fortune Flow interactive experience — are reviewed separately. If you encounter an accessibility issue with any such feature, please contact us using the details in Section 7.
6. Alternative Channels — How to Place an Order If the Website Does Not Work for You
If you encounter difficulty accessing any part of hotpotqueen.com, you can place an order or request services by contacting us directly. We want to ensure that accessibility barriers do not prevent you from purchasing our products.
Email: hello@hotpotqueen.com — we respond during business hours and will walk you through ordering manually. When contacting us, please include: the products you wish to order, your shipping address, any dietary or allergen constraints, and the best contact method for follow-up. 7. Accessibility Feedback — Request Accommodation or Report an Issue
We welcome feedback that helps us improve accessibility on hotpotqueen.com. If you would like to request an accommodation or report an accessibility issue, please contact us at privacy@hotpotqueen.com with the subject line “ACCESSIBILITY REQUEST.”
Please include, if available: the URL of the page or feature involved, a description of the issue, the assistive technology you were using, and how to reach you for follow-up. We will acknowledge receipt within five (5) business days and provide a substantive response within fifteen (15) business days. There is no fee for accommodation requests.
Purchase-blocking issues. If your accessibility issue prevents you from completing a purchase or receiving order-related communications, please email hello@hotpotqueen.com with subject line “ACCESSIBILITY – PURCHASE BLOCKING” and we will prioritize your request for a response within one (1) business day and work with you to complete your order through the alternative channel described in § 6.
8. Accessibility for Our Services (Non-Web)
Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond the website. If you need help reading product labels, understanding ingredients, or receiving product information in an alternative format, contact us at hello@hotpotqueen.com. We can provide product information in large-print or plain-text format on request. For other accommodation needs, including additional alternative formats, contact us at hello@hotpotqueen.com and we will work with you to identify a workable approach within our operational capacity.
9. Third-Party Content and Services
hotpotqueen.com integrates with third-party services, including the Shopify checkout platform, Klaviyo email forms, social-media widgets, payment processors, and customer-review platforms. We work to ensure that embedded third-party content meets our accessibility standards, but we cannot guarantee that content operated and maintained by third parties meets the same level of accessibility. If you encounter an accessibility issue with a third-party component on our site, please contact us at privacy@hotpotqueen.com. We will notify the relevant provider of your feedback and document your report; resolution depends on the third-party operator’s implementation and is outside our direct control.
10. Legal Framework Acknowledgment
This Accessibility Statement is provided as part of our commitment to serving customers with disabilities. It is not a waiver of any legal obligation, and it does not limit or disclaim any rights or remedies available to users under applicable law, including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12181 et seq.), California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 51-52), which provides parallel protections for persons with disabilities in places of public accommodation, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (where applicable to federal-funded contexts, which do not currently apply to Hotpot Queen commercial DTC operations), and comparable state and Canadian provincial accessibility laws (including, for Canadian customers, the Accessible Canada Act and provincial accessibility statutes).
11. Changes to This Statement
We may update this Accessibility Statement from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our site, accessibility standards, or applicable law. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. This Accessibility Statement sets out our approach to accessibility; it is not a contract, and accessibility obligations under applicable law apply regardless of the date of this Statement.
