Chinese Dumpling with Mala Dipping Sauce

This chili oil dumpling recipe is elevated with the addition of wild mushroom chili sauce in the dipping sauce. The dumplings are filled with juicy and flavorful filling and paired with a spicy, savory sauce for a delicious and satisfying meal.

 

INGREDIENTS

For the dumplings:

  • 1 package of wonton wrappers (about 50 pieces)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup chopped scallions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

For the sauce:

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, scallions, cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and egg.
  2. To assemble the dumplings, lay out a wonton wrapper and place a heaping teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water and pinch the edges together to seal the dumpling. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. In a large saucepan, bring a pot of water to a boil and add the dumplings. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the Wild Mushroom Chili Sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  6. Serve the dumplings with the chili sauce, either poured over the dumplings or served on the side for dipping.
